Friday, November 15

24th Annual Christkindlmarket – From November 15th through December 24th – Inspired by the Christkindlesmarkt in Nuremberg, Germany, which began in 1545, the Christkindlmarket Chicago brings a cherished German and European tradition with international flair and local charm to Chicago. Chicago’s largest open-air Christmas festival was first held on Pioneer Court in 1996.

2019 Barrel-Aged Imperial Pajamas Bottle Release – From 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM.  It’s the day we’ve been waiting for all year: the release of 2019 Barrel-Aged Imperial Pajamas! We aged our Imperial Oatmeal Stout in 5, 9, 10, and 13-year-old Heaven Hill bourbon barrels, we are very excited to share the results with you. Join us on November 15th when bottles of our beloved BA IPJ will be available for purchase and on draft in the taproom. We’ll also be tapping special draft-only variants (featuring returning favorites and new flavors) throughout the day, created by our brewers Liz and Nick, which will be available in 5oz pours – while they last.

Low-Sensory Mornings – From 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM.  Low-Sensory Mornings is a series of events dedicated to providing sensory-friendly time with Museum exhibits. On select dates throughout the year from 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM, MSI’s exhibits will be altered, including lower exhibit volume, dimmer lights, and limited crowding. On these days we’ll offer additional accommodations including a designated quiet room offering sensory toys, water, and a space to relax. You can also check out noise-reducing headphones and weighted vests for free from Guests Services in the Entry Hall.

Prop Day Consolation Vertical – From 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM.  For those of you who didn’t get a spot at Prop Day this year, have no fear! We’ll be putting some special vintage Prop on tap at 6:00 PM on Sunday, November 17th.

Beth Hart – A Special Solo Performance at Park West – From 7:30 PM – 10:30 PM.  The new date rescheduled from April 25. Existing tickets will be valid on the new date.

Christmas Around the World and Holidays of Light – From 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM.  Explore rich holiday traditions from around the globe while creating your own traditions with loved ones in Christmas Around the World and Holidays of Light. It began in 1942 with a single tree. Today, the Museum’s beloved annual celebration features a four-story, floor-to-dome Grand Tree, surrounded by a forest of more than 50 trees and displays decorated by volunteers to represent the holiday traditions from cultures around the globe. On the weekends, you can also enjoy live holiday performances. It’s the one-of-a-kind experience that brings a whole world of holiday joy under one roof.

RED BULL MUSIC FESTIVAL CHICAGO BLACK MONASTIC – From 8:00 PM – 12:00 AM.  Theaster Gates’ Rebuild Foundation has made a mission of preserving black art, music, culture, and physical spaces. Black Monastic extends this practice. Specially curated by Gates himself and featuring pioneering Chicago musicians Yaw Agyeman, Kiara Lanier, Ben LaMar Gay, Joshua Abrams, ADaD, and more, the show is an exploration into the history of black sound. Complementing this performance is Peter CottonTale, best known for his work as Chance the Rapper’s musical director. His curation, CatchPeter presents Praise Break, will bring together a host of young talent infusing gospel into Chicago’s present-day sound: The JuJu Exchange, Ron Poindexter, Jay Arnold, and more. Set in the lush greenery of Chicago’s Garfield Park Conservatory, Black Monastic will sprawl through the space in a powerfully immersive performance examining black music past and present.

Things To Not Do in Naperville – Starts at 7:00 PM – Things To Not Do is a full-length play (116 pages) that follows the lives of 12 high school students over the course of a school year at fictional Lincoln High. It explores aspects of being a modern-day teen with all of the confusion, humor, drama, trepidation, and self-discovery that it entails. TTND is a contemporary update on the cultural and social minefield that is high school.
