The Chicago Jazz Festival is produced by the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events and programmed by the Jazz Institute of Chicago.
The Great American Lobster Fest – From Friday August 30th – Sunday September 1st – The Great American Lobster Fest is the Midwest’s largest Lobster and Seafood Festival. We’re returning to Chicago’s legendary Navy Pier on Labor Day Weekend to celebrate Summer’s Last Hurrah! Enjoy live lobster flown in fresh from the cold waters of the East Coast courtesy of our official seafood provider, Lobster Gram, live music performances, family-friendly games and activities, unique arts/craft shopping, land food options, and cold beverages.
2019 Naperville Jaycees Last Fling – From August 30th – Monday September 2nd – General Admission Tickets afford access into ALL areas of the Last Fling including: Rotary Hill Mainstage General Admission, Block Party Stage Area and Family Fun Land during normal business hours and until capacity numbers are reached. Tickets are required for these areas for all attendees aged 13 and older; those aged 12 and under are granted FREE entry with paid adult. Entry into Carnival remains FREE to all patrons regardless of age.
30th Annual African Festival of the Arts – From Friday August 30th – Monday September 2nd – Annually during Labor Day Weekend, the Festival grounds in Chicago’s Washington Park come alive in a simulated African village. Attendees are transported across the Diaspora with interactive engagements, vibrant drumming, museum quality and collectible artifacts, colorful and rich handwoven fabric and textile, and other program spaces and Interactive spaces include: Drum & Afro-folk Village, Children and Family, African Heritage, African Spirituality, Wellness (Health) Village, Books and Authors, Fine Art, Film and Video, Food Court, Seniors and Quilting, and the African Marketplace.
Taste of Polonia Festival – From Friday August 30th – Monday September 2nd – This annual Labor Day weekend taste fest in Chicago offers non-stop LIVE MUSIC, food, and fun for four days. It’s a must-do family event with enough scheduling to keep both little kids & adults happy.

Alley Art Festival – From 12:00pm – 5:00pm – Alley Art Festival is a local, grassroots outdoors art festival at Water Street Mall in downtown Aurora on the last Saturday of August. It’s a day of fun, music, and art – with 70+ local artists selling their art and handmade goods!
Tone Deaf Records Grand Opening – Opens at 12:00pm. We have updates on the Grand Opening Party which is happening on Aug 31st. We have solidified the live band line-up which will feature the one and only John Langford (Mekons, Waco Brothers), wonderful local psych/folk guitarist Jessica Risker, and the great honky-tonk rock of The Siderunners (ex The Tossers). On top of the wonderful music we will have a number of DJ’s including The Dirty Hunch, DJ John Benetti and many more. There will be contests, bags, beer and much more. Bands will be playing between 2-6 but we will be partying all day and evening.

On The Wall Festival 2019 – From 12:00pm – 7:00pm – The annual On the Wall Festival is an all-ages, free event featuring live art, breakdance, DJ sets, and food trucks! This family friendly event celebrates the elements of hip hop in a lively, festive atmosphere. Special occasions for this edition include the addition of a car show and the celebration of organizing crew Them Bad Apples 30th anniversary.

The Office Trivia Night — Starts at 7:00pm – Every Tuesday evening at 7 PM is Trivia Night at O’Malley’s Pub & Eatery. We are the best spot in Aurora for weekly trivia fun. Grab a partner or two and get into the competition every week, and join us the 1st Tuesday of every month for a special themed night such as The Office or Disney Trivia Night! Everyone is welcome and it is free to play!

Chicago Field Museum – Opens at 9:00am – Join us for Free Admission Days at the Field. From August 14 to November 13, 2019, every Wednesday is a Free Admission Day. Basic admission is free for Illinois residents with proof of residency. Discounted passes are available in person and cannot be purchased online in advance.
