Friday June 21st

Chicago Cubs vs New York Mets – Game Time is 1:20pm.  The Promotion is Anthony Rizzo “Out on the Water” Bobblehead.

Chi-Soul Fest – From Friday the 21st to Saturday the 22nd.  The Chicago Soul Music Festival is an inter-generational musical conversation of Chicago soul music presented in honor of Black Music Appreciation Month.

Pianos in the Parks at Jackson – From 12:00pm – 6:00pm.  Pianos in the Parks builds community by bringing pianos donated by the Keys 4/4 Kids, Chicago Public Libraries, Alden Piano Company, and by individual donors to 10 Chicago Park District Parks from June 1 through August 1. These instruments offered in open spaces provide student, amateur and professional musicians the opportunity to connect with their peers and share in the joy of music-making. The program offers free piano lessons, recordings of performances, and the opportunity to create site-specific artworks and compositions.

Make Music Chicago 2019 on The Riverwalk – From 5:00pm – 7:45pm.  On Friday, June 21, 2019, the International Music Foundation will present Make Music Chicago 2019. Make Music Chicago is a free, citywide, do-it-yourself music festival. Chicagoans of all ages and musical abilities, from seasoned professionals to those with no music experience, are invited to make music at any of the Make Music Chicago events, which include free sing-alongs, play-alongs, lessons, and performances.

KCR Ensemble: For the Music in You at Oakdale – From 6:00pm – 7:00pm – KCR Ensemble will perform a live music Concert — A Variety of Jazz, Blues, and Contemporary Music that will satisfy the taste of our listening audiences.

Movies in the Parks at Archer – Show Time is from 8:30pm – 10:06pm.  SMALLFOOT PG – A Yeti (voiced by Channing Tatum) is convinced that the elusive creatures known as “humans” really do exist.

Movies in the Parks at Mandrake – Show Time is from 8:30pm – 10:27pm.  SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE – PG – Teen Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore) becomes the Spider-Man of his reality, crossing his path with five counterparts from other dimensions to stop a threat for all realities.

Saturday June 22nd

Chicago Pride Fest – From Saturday 11:00am – Sunday 10:00pm.  Chicago Pride Fest® June 22-23, is an exciting two-day street festival held the weekend before the Chicago Pride Parade, celebrating LGBTQ+ life, culture and community. This year marks a milestone as we honor the 50 years since Stonewall, the birth of the Pride movement.

Chicago Food Truck Festival – From Saturday 11:00am – Sunday 7:00pm.  One of America’s top food TRUCK FESTIVALS, Chicago Food Truck Festival is scheduled for it’s 6th annual Gourmet Food Truck Festival. As you are aware last year we drew a crowd of foodies. So, let’s do it again for 2019. Join us as we gather up to 45+ gourmet food trucks, for a foodie heaven of tasting chef prepared dishes and delighting the palate with a splash of Sangria or some America’s Beer Capital’s Best Beers. Also, did we mention games and live music? Get your free admission or VIP admission tickets now.

Aon Summer Fireworks – From 10:15pm – 10:25pm.  Navy Pier is Chicago’s bi-weekly destination for spectacular, free fireworks displays perfectly synchronized to music on Lake Michigan. Navy Pier’s Aon Summer Fireworks occur on Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout the summer, from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Wild Indigo Nature Explorations at Park No. 565 – From 10:00am – 1:00pm.  Audubon Great Lakes’ Wild Indigo Nature Explorations is a multi-generational, family focused community engagement program that seeks to builds lasting relationships between urban communities of color and their local natural areas. The series will focus on celebrating Birds, Wetlands, Community Science, and Community Arts by creating a cross-cultural collaborative platform for local/emerging artist of color to lead an interactive art workshop at each Wild Indigo Nature Explorations event.

Art Fair and Festival at Ridge – From 11:00am – 5:00pm.  Join us for the Ridge Park Art Fair & Festival featuring Fine Arts, Ceramics, Sculpture, Jewelry, Textiles, Art Glass, Photography, Woodworking, Leather Crafts & more. Presented by the Vanderpoel Art Association and the Ridge Park Advisory Council.

Art, Music, and Cultural Fair at Brainerd – From 1:00pm – 7:00pm.  You never know what you’ll find while at the Brainerd Park Art, Music, and Cultural Fair. Your treasures await!

Saturday Afternoon Sessions at Big Marsh – From 2:00pm – 6:00pm.  “Saturdays at Big Marsh” is a season of drop-in based activities and performances at Big Marsh every Saturday from June 22 – September 14. “Saturdays at Big Marsh” invites community members to enjoy music, poetry, dance, and more while enjoying Big Marsh Park. The Friends of Big Marsh invite families to bring their bikes, but will have a small number of “loaner bikes” available so all can enjoy the features of the bike park.

Eighth Blackbird at Hamilton – From 3:00pm – 4:30pm.  Chicago-based four-time GRAMMY award-winning new music sextet Eighth Blackbird, brings NOIS saxophone quartet and Juxtatonal voice and cello duo, two alumni ensembles from the Blackbird Creative Lab, to Englewood and Garfield Park for all-ages afternoon concerts. Each performance includes time to interact with the musicians and a chance to learn more about neighborhood music initiatives for youth and adults. The Englewood post-concert conversation will focus on older youth and young adults interested in pursuing music study and careers.

Movies in the Parks at West Chatham – Show Time is from 8:30pm – 10:44pm.  BLACK PANTHER – PG-13 – T’Challa, the King of Wakanda (Chadwick Boseman), rises to the throne in the isolated, technologically advanced African nation, but his claim is challenged by a vengeful outsider (Michael B. Jordan) who was a childhood victim of T’Challa’s father’s mistake.

Sunday June 23rd

Chicago Jerk Festival – From 10:00am – 10:00pm – The South Side will experience the sights, sounds and spicy aromas of the Chicago Jerk Festival, a daylong extravaganza featuring exotic Caribbean and American food— many grilled to perfection— live music, authentic Caribbean influenced arts and crafts souvenirs and activities for kids of all ages.  The Jerk Festival concept which highlights Caribbean food and entertainment has become a national concept.

JDLP’s Blue Groove Summer Sessions at McKinley – From 2:00pm – 8:00pm.  The Blue Groove Summer Sessions: A free fun all ages Dance Party showcases some of the city’s top Artists, DJs & Musicians. It’s curated by veteran Chicago DJ, Event Promoter and Vocalo 91.1 FM radio host Jesse De La Pena. The annual music series takes place at 3 parks and focuses on bringing the city together through art, music & dancing.

Big Table Dinners at Sherman – From 5:00pm – 7:00pm.  The Big Table Dinner Project is a community dinner hosted by Green City Market cooked up by local chefs featuring locally grown and available produce. During the course of the dinner, guests will receive information and engage in conversations about Chicago?s local agriculture scene and food access and discover ways to get more involved in their community.

ArtSeed at Langley – From 3:30pm – 5:30pm.  ArtSeed visits playlots across Chicago to bring storytelling, music, movement, and nature play rooted in neighborhood stories. Young people and their families are invited to explore the histories and legacies of Chicago based artists and imagine the creative possibilities in their own neighborhood.

Storytown in the Parks at Kennedy – From 6:30pm – 7:30pm.  Storytown Improv leads families through an improvised, interactive musical adventure for the whole family. From superheroes to undersea adventures, princesses to dinosaurs, Storytown takes you on an interactive, fully improvised adventure. The actors use audience suggestions and ideas to create a different story everytime. Kids design the setting and help shape the story. The actors, artists and musicians bring it to life. When the possibilities are endless, no two stories are ever the same. Recommended for children ages 3 to 10 years and their families. This event is presented as a part of the City of Chicago?s Year of Chicago Theatre.

Movies in the Parks at Bartelme – Show Time from 8:30pm – 10:04pm.  WAYNE’S WORLD – PG-13 – Two slacker fiends (Mike Myers, Dana Carvey) try to keep their show their own when a local station comes on board and a sleazy advertising guy starts to meddle.

Movies in the Parks at Hamilton – Show Time from 8:30pm – 10:38pm.  JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM – PG-13 – When the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event.

Wednesday June 26th

Dances from West Africa at Wentworth Gardens – From 6:00pm – 7:30pm.  NAJWA Dance Corps and Najwa Junior Corps will present a one hour interactive program entitled; “Dances of West Africa” which includes dances from the Sene-Gambia Region, Guinea and Liberia, This Program is comprised of live drumming, narration and audience participation and is geared to all ages. The audience will have an opportunity to practice combining African dance movements with hip hop dance movements for a joyous experience.

Thursday June 27th

Chicago Cubs vs Atlanta Braves – Game Time is 1:20pm.  The Promotion is Cubs Cocktail Stones.

Toddlers, Tunes, & Turtles at Skinner – From 5:30pm – 7:30pm.  Now in it’s 14th year, Toddlers, Tunes and Turtles invites our youngest explorers to visit your park and explore! This outdoor nature program encourages families to enjoy the park together. Meet animal experts who will bring a variety of live animals like frogs, snakes, and of course, turtles. Sing along with musicians come and sing family friendly music to eager crowds. There are also instruments for the kids to play with as well as puzzles, books, blocks, fishing and more!

Gustavo Cortiñas Quartet Jazz Jam at Vittum – From 7:00pm – 8:30pm.  Please come join Gustavo Cortiñas and his quartet for an all ages evening of fellowship through music as we bring the first Jazz Jam nights in the park! Jazz players of all ages and levels are welcome to come and sit in with the band and express themselves through music.

Movies in the Parks at Vittum – Show Time from 8:30pm – 10:21pm.  RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET – PG – Six years after the events of “Wreck-It Ralph,” Ralph and Vanellope, now friends, discover a wi-fi router in their arcade, leading them into a new adventure.

Boxing Show at Taylor – From 7:00pm – 9:00pm.  Come cheer on our youth boxers as they compete against their peers from other parks.
