Calumet Heights

Calumet Heights is a “solidly middle class” neighborhood that is almost exclusively residential. It is named after the nearby Calumet River and the ridge of the Niagara limestone that runs through the area. Most of the housing and other buildings are from the early 1900s. Although it’s newest addition is the LEED certified field house at Jesse Owens Park. It was finished in 2009. This field house includes a nature garden, a rooftop garden, and solar panels on the roof.
