Avalon Park

Avalon park is located on the south side of Chicago. The community area includes neighborhoods of Avalon Park, Marynook and Stony Island Park.

Johnathon Pierce developed the area under the name “Pierce’s Park” in 1888. The Avalon Park Community Church eventually requested the name be changed to Avalon Park and succeeded in 1910. Early settlers of the area included German and Irish people in the 1880s.
